News update

News in short...
the third Phat Wednesday took place last wednesday on Schleyer to Lower Whistler Downhill and went down like a newly born giraffe on an ice rink. Most riders took tumbles which resulted in some disappointing results for most. I attempted to put the brand new Scott Gambler through the spin cycle but ended up ending my run 15 seconds in with a tribute huck to flat off the side of the Richie Schley wooden drop. As i dropped from the sky all i could see was expensive hospital bills and an early flight home fly past my eyes but amazingly all i had were a couple of sore wrists. Chris Kovarik turned up and bulldozed the competition by 11 seconds. his missus, claire buchar, also dominated the female category and beat the closest nearest chcik by about a week and a half.
Riding whistler may make you better as a rider but racing world cups makes you faster.
The most popular trails in the bike park have been taking a beating recently due to the very dry weather. We are begging for rain. Tip for avoiding the worst of the wrecked trails is to go up Garbanzo or to do yourself a favour and get out on the amazing trails in the valley outside of the bike park.
At the moment we have Doddy from MBUK and Sheryl Macloed from NZ Mountain Biker Magazine staying with us. Our chalets are like the equivalent of mountain bikings fleet street right now.
This weekend the Bear Back team head to Squamish for the Gearjammer race. 47km of singletrack trails that rode seperately are a joy and a treat, but rode in one go in about 3 or 4 hours straight is a grueling punishment apparently. Im a virgin to this race but Jonny boy is the defending champion for his age category. Watch this space
