Cheakamus Challenge

This weekend saw the King of Classics, Cheakamus Challenge XC race.
It's a 73km point to point XC race with over 2000m of vertical climbing between Squamish and Whistler. Every year the race breaks the souls of many a recreational racer but each year they come back for more.
This years lineup included Anreas Hestler, Max Plaxton, Neal Kindrea and Whistlers resident Loonie champ Matt Ryan.
Looking like a wet race for 2007, there were just 217 starters on the long course that saw a few slight changes over last years redesign. An added section of the new Sea-To-Sky trail brough some added pain at the midway point of the race whilst highway construction crews did a good job of keeping the road sections safe.

Max Plaxton took his 3rd consecutive win over Squamish hero Kindrea and Whistler's Matt Ryan made 3rd spot.
BBB rider Jonny made 15th overall and 2nd in catagory behind Japans #5 national rider (4th overall in the Cheak) Takenouchi Yu.

The rain held off and the course remained relatively dry - all in all a great day on the bike, even for those who braved the course for over 7 hours! Nice work.
