Trail Status

No expense spared by Bear Back Biking to bring you the Most current, up to date and relevant trail information.

This photo was taken from a float plane over the Bike Park recently. As you can see the cues have died down now Crankworx is over, the trail crew have been fixing all the damage done recently, and the new Ninja Cougar is open.

GEARJAMMER

One week ago, Jonny, Jamie and myself embarked on the Gearjammer race in Squamish which is a 47km race on some of BCs finest singletrack.

Some people say that this race is the little brother to the Test of Metal race, but those people are roadies. This race maybe 20 kms shorter than the ToM but takes the same amount of time because it is raced on beautiful technical singletrack.

We had all been struck down with a mysterious flu the week leading up to the race and not really done any riding of significance to prepare for the race but we all managed to survive it pretty well.

Jonny won the 20-29 age category for the second year in a row with a time that so so so narrowly slipped the long side of 3 hours. Jamie raced the whole thing on flat pedals and only got two punctures and ran in with a respectable 3hrs 36min. Myself i was stoked to get a chance to ride the whole of Squamish in one day which saves petrol money on repeat visits to take bite sized chunks of trail days. I was even more stoked to get a 3:06 and finish second in the 20-29 age category. First and second for Bear Back Biking on the podium. Exquisite!!!

The competition is flowing through our veins this summer. Next up, Crankworx and the Cheakamus Challenge.
